Georgia to pull troops out of Iraq to fight Russia

Posted by Nicholas Alan Clayton

In his interview with CNN, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili announced that Georgia will be pulling its 2,000 strong contingent from Iraq in the wake of open military confrontations with Russia.

Throughout the interview he propogated the idea that Russia was attempting to seize Georgia just as the Soviet Union had done to Czechloslovakia in the 1950′s. Generally his reasoning was pretty ridiculous and the interviewer didn’t sufficiently press him when he denied Georgian troops attacked South Ossetian capital Tskhinvali in the night, something nearly all news services—including CNN—have confirmed.

He then stoked “Domino Theory” fears that if this behavior on Russia’s part went unheeded, then it would lead to Russian aggression all over the map.

I’m not really sure what Saakashvili’s game plan is from here on out. Does he actualy expect NATO to engage itself against Russia? Fat chance. Even the Bush administration isn’t dellusional enough to initiate a nuclear war over a country with as miniscule of importance as Georgia.
