Georgian drone shot down over Tskhinvali – RIA Novosti
Russian state media station RIA Novosti claimed August 13 Russian forces shot down an unmanned Georgian reconnaissance aircraft of the the South Ossetian capital of Tskhinvali.
This comes as a tentative cease-fire was agreed to yesterday which included a halt to all military activities in Georgia. However, it appears mistrust between sides continues to run high, as Russian troops reportedly moved to a Georgian base outside Gori, possibly with the goal of destroying abandoned military vehicles stationed there.
This incident indicates the Georgian military feels it needs to monitor Russian positions and movements despite the cease-fire, and Russia feels the need to stop such reconnaissance.
