Wacky Weather
Well, back here in Tbilisi, we just experienced a sudden, short, ridiculously powerful rainstorm that turned Chikobava St. into a running river and caused a pouring leak in my roommate’s bedroom ceiling. It also produced some cool lightning flashes and general pandemonium as the residents of my building frantically tried to keep the courtyard from flooding by means of buckets, brooms and at one time at least — a plank of wood.
I offered to help Noi (the bald guy in the red shirt) who seemed to be leading the anti-flooding efforts, but he seemed content to keep his new tenant dry and instead with one of the other residents carried me over the biggest puddle with my camera. Noi is my husband of my de facto landlady who I got to know quite well Friday afternoon over a bottle of cognac, plus chacha, plus several shots of his homemade 140 proof vodka.
The photos didn’t turn out as well as I would have liked given how dark it was, but I shot some good video of the event and will put some of that up once I’ve converted it from AVCHD and edited it down a bit.
