We’re back!

Posted by Nicholas Alan Clayton

Broadcasting to you at from my office at Kala cafe in the Ortachala neighborhood of Tbilisi, I formally announce that the two dark months without Three Kings Blog are officially over. I finally overcame my technical ignorance by … asking for help from the nice guys at Evolutsia.net to reboot my broken blog.

First things first! You may notice the blog looks different, and I want your imput. I figured if I was going to go through all the trouble of reinstalling stuff on the hosting site and what not I might as well go with a new look. Unfortunately the only new blog templates I liked also crashed site, so I went with a slightly different version of the previous theme.

I’m not totally happy with the new design and I will be tweaking it myself over the next week or so, so let me know what you think about it.

Keep checking in! We have a lot of catching up to do.

  1. Not sure if Kala is technically Ortachala… Shouldn’t it be Dzveli Tbilisi?

  2. Hi Nick,

I’m glad to see that your blog is back working. It’s fun to see your photo here in a very familar shirt from earlier times!

I like the photo of Yerevan, but I’m not wild about the plain white block letters. I liked your original format with the world map and the 3 chess pieces in the countries that you are interested in writing about. That helped tell the story of Three Kings Blog!

  3. Yeah,

The whole chess piece thing was cool, but it doesn’t fit this blog template and I’m not even sure I still have the file. It also wasn’t designed by me and I tend to prefer to feature my work rather than others as the headliner for the blog and I’m a photographer, not a designer.

And don’t go all Georgian on me, Thomas. Kala actually derives its name from the old Tbilisi district, Kalaubani, in which it technically resides. I’ve never heard anyone use this name however, and I tend to think of it as being between Sololaki and Ortachala.

  4. hey, Nick, good to see you up and going again! I like your office very much – not a cubicle in sight, an amazing feature these days!
